Certificate in Marketing

Marketing is the driver of business products and services. The identification of a target market and the devising of an appropriate marketing strategy for that market is a primary concern for every business. The production of a product or the provision of a service is the straightforward aspect – the real challenge is communicating to the masses what is on offer in an enticing and cost effective manner. Effective marketing skills are essential in order to meet this challenge.

Programme Objectives

This qualification affords learners the opportunity to pursue a professional career in the Marketing sector. A successful participant will become a skilled individual in the area of Marketing with an internationally recognised qualification that can lead to further qualifications at Degree level. Assessment is both continuous and end of year. As part of this programme BMI provides the opportunity for participants to participate in a 10 week work placement programme by actively supporting candidates in securing work placement with prospective employers through the BMI work placement programme.

Award

A FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Marketing (BMXXX) is awarded to learners who successfully complete all modules.  A record of achievement is awarded to students who successfully complete one module. For further information on a FETAC award click here and you will be directed to the FETAC website.

  • National Vocational Certificate Level 1, Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent qualifications
  • Curriculum Vitae or Interview
  • Mature Applicants (23 Yrs) with relevant life and work experience

First Semester: Tuesday 5th October - Wednesday 8th December 2010

Assessment:

Continuous assessment applies all year round and roughly represents 60% of the final grade. Assignments are to be completed during the year. There is an end of year assessment that represents the remaining 40% of the final grade.

Career Opportunities:

The completion of this course provides an excellent opportunity for the successful participant to secure a recognised Irish qualification that can assist in a variety of roles in various sectors of employment.  A Certificate in Marketing allows an individual access to a wide number of careers while allowing the possibility for further specialisation in the future. The BMI work placement programme ensures participants receive practical experience in their target industry.

Progression:

Successful participants of this course are awarded a FETAC Level 5 Certificate and are eligible to progress to further education opportunities at Business Management Institute or with other third level institutions.  Full details are provided in the document titled ‘BMI Access Transfer & Progression’ which is available on enrolment or on request.

Protection for Learners:

Business Management Institute adheres to the Qualifications (Education & Training) Act of 1999 which addresses Protection for Learners. The Act seeks to ensure that learners have every opportunity to complete a programme leading to an award.  To fulfil the requirements of this act Business Management Institute has in place a written agreement with two other providers who will allow Learners to transfer over their programmes should Business Management Institute cease to provide the programme in question. Course Duration and Pricing

• The above course is run part time one evening per week 6.30pm to 9.45pm. Alternatively it can be studied two days per week 9.30am to to 4.30pm on a Monday and Tuesday.
• All modules are completed in the course. Assistance in securing a work placeent is available for those who wish to avail of the BMI Work Placement Programme.
• Course fees include registration fees, exam fees and course material
• The tuition fee is €1,800
• A revision course & mock examination are included in the tuition fee
